Francisco Lindor and “Sugar” Diaz reported early to Mets spring camp

The Puerto Rican shortstop Francisco Lindor and his compatriot, the closer pitcher Edwin “Sugar” Diazwere among the handful of players from the New York Mets who reported to the team’s training facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida, before the official start of spring training on February 14.

There are many things that both missed during the dead period after concluding the 2023 season with their Mets eliminated, finishing fourth in the National League East Division, with a losing record of 75-87.

“I achieved something personally (in 2023), but I didn’t reach the ultimate goal, which is to win. You know, I want to win. I came here to win,” Lindor told the press in an interview published by MLB.com, the official site of Major League Baseball.

So I would love to be able to do it in 2024. I love it. It feels amazing to be back”.

Lindor was referring to the fact that he had a productive year on a personal level, one in which he even ended up winning the Silver Slugger award as the most offensive shortstop in the National League.
