After a poor start to the season with a 3-8 record, Mako Oliveras will not continue to lead the Mayaguez Indians and will be replaced by former player and bench coach, Wilfredo “Coco” Corderothe organization reported this Sunday on social networks.
The Indian champions occupy the last position in the standings.
Cordero will debut today, Sunday, with the Indians when he receives a visit from RA12 at the Isidoro “Cholo” Garcia Stadium.
The Indians reported that Oliveras “will continue in the Indians’ administration as part of the general manager’s office.”
Oliveras took charge of the Indians in the middle of last season in place of Luis Matos and led the team to the championship.
In this start of the tournament, the Indians are 0-6 on the road and collectively are just batting .197 with 32 runs scored in 11 games.
