Puerto Rico revalidates its title by defeating the United States in the final of the baseball academies tournament

Puerto Rico revalidated its title in the third edition of the DRD International Baseball Academies Tournament 2024 by defeating IMG Academy 5-3 of the United States on the final day of the event on Friday at Hiram Bithorn Stadium.

The Puerto Ricans had reached the final game after overwhelming Canada 11-1 in the semifinal round.

The Puerto Rican ninth scored the five runs against reliever Noah Franco, after starter Blake Larson completed four scoreless innings with five strikeouts, according to a community member from the Department of Recreation and Sports (DRD), organizer of the contest.

For Puerto Rico, Starter Roberto Barreto pitched five innings allowing two runs and four hits with five strikeouts.

The most outstanding in the offensive were Hiram Bocachica, Jr., 3-2, Joek Rivera and Misael Maldonado 3-1 and Yamvier Carrero 2-1.

For the United States, Josh Hanson was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
