Ponce – The Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (LBPRC) recognized and surprised this Monday with a cash prize the 300,000th fan of the 2023-24 season.
The fan, whose name is Rolando J. Melendez Apontea resident of the municipality of Salinas, attended the sixth game of the semifinal between the Ponce Lions and the Carolina Giants at the Francisco Paquito Montaner Stadium, in the Ciudad Senorial.
“The game was not originally coming,” said a smiling Melendez to The new day, accompanied by his niece. “But with the people I came with, they told me: we are in the light near your house… If you are ready, you come with us. And here I am,” she added.
Melendez, 29, received $300 in cash and three passes VIP by the president of the winter league, Juan Antonio Flores Galarza, for the next campaign. He was also congratulated by the director of the Novena Poncena, Oscar Misla.
“I’m from Salinas, but I’ve always been a Lions fan. “I came to see the receiver Samuel Hernandez, who is also from my town,” he said.
Melendez was the number fan 1955 to enter through the gates of Paquito Montaner.
“When I saw that there were a lot of photographers and league staff, I thought someone important was coming. I told my friend: maybe I could win something! And look, I got this surprise,” she noted.
