65-year-old man dies after being run over in Toa Baja

A 65-year-old man died this Sunday after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle, at around 8:51 p.m., on Boulevard Avenue in Levittown, in Toa Baja, the Police reported.

In a press release, the Police reported that while the driver of a white Toyota Sequoia bus, model year 2011, was traveling on the aforementioned road, upon arriving in front of a supermarket, “he did not notice the presence of the cyclist identified as Rolando Miranda Alejandro, 65 years old, on the taxiway, impacting himself.”

Due to the crash, Miranda Alejandro fell to the pavement, “receiving serious injuries that caused her death on the spot.”

The driver of the car underwent a breath alcohol test and it returned 0.0%. Agent Geraldo Ruiz, under the supervision of Sergeant Luis Serrano, of the Highway Patrol Division, and prosecutor Marcus Torres took charge of the investigation.

In so far this year, 74 deaths have been recorded due to traffic crashes in Puerto Rico13 less than those reported on the same date in 2023.
