A 21-year-old girl, identified as Lara Camila Gonzalez Ortizdied last night in the middle of a traffic accident in which the vehicle in which she was a passenger collided with a pole and several cement benches, located in front of the Pa La Playa business, on the PR-686 highway in the Yeguada neighborhood in Vega Low.
According to the preliminary information provided by the Police, the woman was in the back seat of a white Ford Mustang car, from 2013, whose driver was driving at a speed that did not “allow her to maintain control and mastery of the steering wheel.” Then, it impacted the aforementioned objects with the right side of the vehicle. It was reported that the driver left the scene “on foot.”
Gonzalez Ortiz died when she was ejected after the crash, which caused her serious injuries that led to her death. Meanwhile, the passenger in the front was transported to the Wilma Vazquez hospital, in Vega Baja, in stable condition.
The Bayamon Command Press Office reported that the driver is wanted by the Police and that information about the incident would be expanded later.
The preliminary investigation was carried out by agent Jonathan Lopez, from the Manati Highway Patrol Division, and by prosecutor Roberto Hernandez. The investigation was then referred to the Homicide division of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Vega Baja.
