A cyclist died on Monday after being run over at around 12:45 pm at the entrance to the parking lot of a store located on PR-2, in Ponce, the Police reported.
According to the Uniform, the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene after the incident occurred.
At this time, the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the events are unknown.
Agents assigned to the Ponce Highway Patrol Division are at the scene investigating.
A similar incident occurred on Saturday when a cyclist, who has not yet been identified, died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing PR-2, kilometer 224.3, at Ponce By Pass.
According to the investigation carried out by the Uniformed Police, the driver of the bicycle was traveling on the aforementioned road that lacked lighting, and did not take due precautions. Shortly after, he was hit by a Toyota Rav4 car driven by a 38-year-old woman who was driving while intoxicated.
The driver, identified as Dayna Michelle Feliciano, was arrested after a breath test showed 0.127% alcohol in her system.
After the incident, the cyclist was taken to the Damas hospital in Ponce, where the medical staff certified his death as a result of the injuries received.
