Aaron Nola silences Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets

NY – Aaron Nola pitched a four-hit complete game for the fourth shutout of his major league career, and The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 4-0 on Tuesday to complete a two-game sweep.

Philadelphia scored twice in the third inning off Venezuelan starter Jose Butto on a hit batter and a stuffed walk.

Bryson Stott extended the lead with an RBI single in the ninth and Alec Bohm doubled in another run to finish with two RBIs.

Nola (5-2) did the rest. He threw 109 pitches in the sixth complete game of his career and first since posting a five-hit shutout against the Cincinnati Reds in August 2022.

He struck out eight and walked one. It’s the third time in nine starts this season that he’s pitched at least eight innings.
