Don Ubaldo Luis Collazo grew up in the Tibes neighborhood of Ponce, where one of the oldest indigenous sites in the Antillean territory is located.

The first cultures that inhabited the Borincano archipelago walked through these lands, among them, from the Igneris or Saladoid period which, according to archaeological evidence, dates back to about 300 years before Christ and, of course, the Tainos.

So, It is not surprising that Ubaldo experienced some of the indigenous traditions, just as she learned from her mother Rufina, who used the fig tree to make ditas or containers with the aim of cleaning rice, venting coffee or packing achiote, among other uses.

However, The man worked in construction almost all his life until he suffered a stroke in 2000.; situation that took him out of his routine. His condition caused various complications and cramps in his hands.
