Ana Isabelle announces her return to Broadway this winter

“This year has been one of blessings and many challenging projects” for the Puerto Rican artist Ana Isabelle. This is how the woman from Caguena described it this afternoon, who announced his return to broadway this winter.

The singer, dancer and actress will play “Elizabeth” in James McLure’s black comedy, “Lone Star,” which will be presented this autumn at Theater Row, produced by Ruth Stage. The production, directed by Joe Rosario, is scheduled to run from November 24 to December 23.

“Lone Star,” according to the American monthly magazine for theater fans, Playbill, is set in the messy backyard of a bar in a small town in Texas. “Roy,” who struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder after a problem in Vietnam, is back in town with his brother “Ray.” The piece also offers a study of the “good boys” of Texas, the depths of brotherhood and the scars to be dealt with from battles fought at home and abroad.

“’Lone Star’ is a hidden gem of a work that we feel compelled to reintroduce to New York City audiences. There are so many parallels between the post-Vietnam era and now, that the staging of a production cannot be ignored,” Rosario commented in an interview with the magazine. “We began publicly working on our vision for ‘Lone Star’ in 2017, finding ways to tie together the characters and stories with added elements of the Vietnam War. “With the permission of the McLure Estate, we have now added the central character of ‘Elizabeth,’ from ‘Laundry and Bourbon,’ to ‘Lone Star,’ where she haunts us with siren songs of the era along with heartbreaking dialogue,” he added. .

This year, Ana Isabelle was part of the stellar cast of the iconic Broadway musical “West Side Story”in it Luis A. Ferre Fine Arts Center, in Santurce. Likewise, in April, he joined his talents with that of Juan Velez to tell a different story of Jesus of Nazareth in the musical “Jesus Christ SuperStar.”

At the international level, the artist became the first Puerto Rican to star in a Spanish series. The performer of hits like “It’s over”, “Who said friends” and “Hey” lived in Spain for four months, where she filmed the series Marbella alongside Spanish actor Hugo Silva.
