Ayden Owens-Delerme will not compete in Austria after qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics

The decathlete Ayden Owens-Delerme will not be active in the combined events joust Hypo Meetingwhich will take place on May 18 and 19, in Götzis, Austria.

Owens-Delerme was scheduled to compete in the event. However, her plans changed after qualifying at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on April 18 during his participation in the Mt SAC Relaysin California.

After a two-day journey, the competitor accumulated 8,732 pointswith which it surpassed the minimum classification mark of 8,460 units and in turn established a national record.

“The event in which he achieved the minimum mark was an extremely exhausting one, and it was decided to rest him from the Austrian competition. That competition was scheduled from the beginning in case the minimum mark was not achieved in the previous event. But since he achieved the mark, his work group decided to continue with the process of strengthening the athlete and focus on the technical aspects of his event,” explained Fernando Olivero, director of the High Performance Department (DAR) of the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (Copur).
