Bernie Williams joins health campaign as spokesperson inspired by the death of his father

Barnabas Williams and his family took five years to receive an accurate diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a few years before he died of said disorder in 2001. Now, his son, the retired baseball player Bernie Williamsparticipates in a campaign to educate about this type of disease, with the aim that people are diagnosed in time and have a better quality of life.

As part of the campaign, an activity will be held in Puerto Rico this week, in which a panel of experts will discuss aspects of disorders that affect the lung, interstitial lung diseases, and music will be incorporated as a tool to help improve the symptoms and quality of life of patients.

“We are going to present this concept that music is a resource to deal with this type of illness. And we are going to play with friends of mine, like Professor Osvaldo Lopez from the Interamerican University.”said the also guitarist, in an interview with The new dayabout the event in which the musician will also play Humberto Ramirez and which will also be attended by former baseball players Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran.
