Beryl is about to hit the Mexican tourist enclave of Tulum as a Category 3 hurricane

Tulum, Mexico — After leaving a trail of destruction in the eastern Caribbean and after a brief loss of strength, Hurricane Beryl strengthened again to Category 3 on Thursday night as it approached the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexicowhere it was expected to make landfall early in the morning in the tourist enclave of Tulum.

Beryl, the earliest storm to reach Category 5 status in an Atlantic season, It now had maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour (mph), the report said. US National Hurricane Center (NHC)As of early Friday, it was located 90 miles southeast of Tulum, Mexico, and moving west at about 16 mph.

“The path of Category 3 Hurricane Beryl indicates that will enter through Tulum, which is a populated area close to the sea“said the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorwho urged people to evacuate the most exposed areas and go to safe areas or shelters. “Let us not hesitate, material things can be recovered. The most important thing is life.”
