Santiago, Chile – The Puerto Rican boxer Ashleyann Lozada He gave a boxing demonstration and unanimously won his round of 16 match this Monday in the 57 kilogram (kg) division of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 and was one step away from striking out his ticket at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The champion of the Barranquilla 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games and San Salvador 2023 won 5-0 against Minerva Montiel, from Paraguay. If she achieves a second victory, she will qualify for next year’s Olympics since her division grants passes to all the semifinalists.
“There is my Olympic pass. “One more fight to make history”said Lozada while watching the fight from which the athlete she will face for Olympic qualification would emerge.
Her fight to secure a medal and Olympic qualification will be on Wednesday against the American Alyssa Mendoza.
The left-hander put her hand in early in the fight. She also used her right hand to break through and thus won all the judges’ cards in the first round.
Technically, Lozada looked solid against a strong Paraguayan who quickened her pace after losing the initial round. Lozada’s speed was accentuated in the second round, when she landed a left hand on her while she was moving laterally. She also won all the cards in that round.
Up 2-0, Lozada boxed, but still used her left foot in a counterattack or when the Paraguayan was standing in front of the Puerto Rican looking for a place to shoot.
