Bryce Harper celebrates home run as if it were a goal and Phillies beat Mets in their first game in London

London – Bryce Harper hit the tying home run, Venezuelan Ranger Suarez became the first 10-game winner of the season and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets 7-2 on Saturday in the first game of the third London series Big leagues.

After Harper drove in a four-run sixth inning, Whit Merrifield hit a three-run homer for the major league-best Philadelphia Phillies (45-19), who have won four in a row and seven of eight. Harper was one triple shy of the cycle.

Nick Castellanos added a home run in the eighth inning and watched from the batter’s box as the ball sailed into left field at London Stadium, home of Premier League club West Ham.

Suarez (10-1) allowed two runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings for the Phillies, who were playing their first game outside of North America. Philadelphia coach Rob Thomson achieved his 200th victory in the regular season (200-137).
