Camuy, Dorado and Guaynabo advance to the postseason in Double A Baseball

The Cabo Rojo Pirates added their seventh consecutive victory and secured the leadership of the Southwest section by overwhelming the Cardenales de Lajas 12-0 this Friday, in the final stretch of the 2024 season of the Double A Superior Baseball League, while The national champions Arenosos de Camuy punched their ticket to the postseason in the North section, as did Dorado and Guaynabo in the Metro.

Cabo Rojo has the best active streak of the tournament and is 13-3, the league reported through a press release.

The match was part of the start of the eighth weekend of action, which featured 11 games completed and nine postponed due to rain.

Pitchers Wilbert Rodriguez and Carlos Davila combined to hold the Cardinals’ offense to just two hits allowed. Michael Cruz and Francisco Cuebas combined to drive in nine runs. The first hit a single and a home run. Additionally, Ian Matos stepped on the plate three times.

At the intersections of the Central and Southern sections, The Toritos de Cayey defeated the Peces Voladores de Salinas 6-1 with 7.1 innings by Freddie Cabrera, two home runs by Nelson Molina and one by Christian Torres.
