Cause for arrest against a police lieutenant for sexual harassment

A judge from the Bayamon Court found cause for arrest on Wednesday against a lieutenant of the Police Bureau (NPPR) for sexual harassmentin events that occurred during the first months of the current year.

According to the NPPR, Judge Milagros Muniz Mas, of the Court of First Instance of Bayamon, found cause in the crime of sexual harassment against the 57-year-old uniformed man, resident in Bayamon and who is a lieutenant of the Puerto Rico Policefor events that occurred between the month of January and the month of April, in the aforementioned municipality.

Although the report does not indicate whether the victim works directly with the lieutenant, it does indicate that “during the past months of this year he made statements to the injured party, feeling humiliated and offended.”

The judge gave Garcia Ortiz a bond of $15,000, which he posted, and he was summoned to court. June 11 for preliminary hearing.
