Danny Masterson sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women

The Angels – A judge sentenced the “That ’70s Show” actor on Thursday Danny Masterson to between 30 years and life in prison for the rape of two women two decades ago.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo handed down the sentence to Masterson, 47, after hearing statements from the women about the trauma they experienced and the suffering caused by disturbing memories of the event.

The judge denied a defense motion for a new trial. The sentence was the maximum allowed by law, meaning Masterson will be eligible for parole after serving 25 and a half years, but could be imprisoned for life.

The actor, who has been detained since May, was sitting in the living room, dressed in a suit. He watched the women as they spoke, offering no visible reaction.

“When you raped me, you stole something from me.”said one woman, for whose rape Masterson was convicted in 2003. “That’s what rape is: a theft of the spirit.”

“You are pathetic, disturbed and totally violent,” the woman added. “The world is a better place while you are in prison.”
