Dayanara Torres’ family suffers first and second degree burns

The former beauty queen and Puerto Rican presenter Dayanara Torres announced the family tragedy that her nephew, sister and mother recently experienced.

Two weeks ago his nephew Santiago, his mother Luz Delgado and his sister Jeanette Torres Delgado suffered first and second degree burns when a pressure cooker exploded at their family residence in the state of Florida. The entire family was immediately treated by health professionals at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital and the one who was most affected was the nephew of Miss Universe 1993, who is nicknamed Santi.

Torres shared the emotional video on social media last night in which he presents what his family’s recovery has been like after the accident, especially the strength and bravery of his nephew.

“Santiago…There are no words to explain how much I admire you… Two Saturdays ago our family lived a nightmare that today brings us closer to Our God! An accident with a pressure cooker that exploded. My Santi of my life, how strong you are, Lela and my beautiful sister with 1st and 2nd degree burns. A nightmare from which they are still recovering,” Torres described on his Instagram account, along with the video in which you can see to the entire family present in the hospital institution.

“I NEED to thank my God for blessing us with the family we have… for each of the nurses, doctors and surgeons at @hcafloridakendallhospital The rescue team, paramedics, who especially took care of my nephew and my mother. But especially the nurses at the Burn & Reconstructive Center & Child Specialist. ARIANA you are an Angel, what a blessing is to know you & to know you walk freely among us. You were there every single day making sure Santi felt Loved, Cared for and even make him Smile through out these tough times… Santi, that you want to spend your birthday praying to Saint Lazarus has filled us with more admiration… Happy Birthday my Sati You are my hero, my champion, my teacher! I love you forever…#Happy14th,” said the co-host of Univision’s El Gordo y la Flaca program in Miami.

The former beauty queen urged people to dare to donate skin to help burn patients.

“If you have never thought about being a donor, I hope you consider it. Donate Save Lives. The donated skin has saved and healed my family. “I bless the souls of each one of those who have donated when they leave,” urged the skin cancer survivor.
