Death toll rises to three from impact of Hurricane Beryl in Jamaica

The authorities of Jamaica They reported this Friday that an 80-year-old man died after a wall of his property fell on him in the district of Back Up, Resource, in Manchesterbringing the death toll to three on the Caribbean island, which was hit on Wednesday by the Hurricane Beryl Category 4.

The deceased octogenarian lived alone in a residence with a weak structure. His relatives indicated that they had tried to get him to leave the home before the cyclone hit, however the man had refused.

The other two deaths were reported Thursday, a 20-year-old man who was swept away by floodwaters in Saint Andrew and a 26-year-old woman in Hanover.

In addition, Beryl left three dead after passing through Granada, one in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and three in Venezuela.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness said at a press conference on Friday that the government is working to complete the damage assessment phase.
