Dispute over inheritance would have caused an incident where a man allegedly killed his sister-in-law in Canovanas

A family dispute over inheritance was what would have triggered an incident where a 70-year-old man shot a woman and her son, this afternoon, in circumstances that remain under investigation, in the neighborhood San Isidroin Canovanas.

“This is a family dispute over inheritance. “This 70-year-old man killed his sister-in-law,” Inspector Mabel Oliveras, director of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Carolina, informed The new day. The inspector also confirmed that the woman’s son was the second injured in this case and that he was taken to the Medical Center Hospital “due to several gunshot wounds.” At the moment, his condition is stable.

Earlier, the Police had indicated that the alleged attacker was neutralized with a taser and, consequently, taken into custody of the authorities.

Oliveras also detailed that a Glock pistol for which the suspect had a license to carry was recovered at the scene.

According to a preliminary report from the Uniformed Police, earlier this afternoon, a phone call to 9-1-1 alerted authorities to shots fired at the location. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an injured woman and man, who were later transported to a hospital in the area. The identity of the victims is unknown.

Agents assigned to the Assaults Division of the Carolina CIC continue to investigate the events.
