Domantas Sabonis reaches 25 triple doubles in the NBA and continues as the season’s leader

Sacramento, California – Domantas Sabonis recorded his 25th triple double of the season, the best mark in the NBA so far this year, on a memorable night and led the Sacramento Kings to a 108-96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Sabonis scored 11 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 10 assists to become the fifth player in NBA history with at least 25 triple-doubles in a season, tying the mark of Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson .

In addition, he added his 54th consecutive double-double, which allowed him to break the tie with Kevin Love for the best streak since the merger of the NBA and the ABA in the 1976-1977 season. Sabonis is still nowhere near Chamberlain’s all-time record of 227 consecutive double-doubles, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Keegan Murray and De’Aaron Fox each scored 23 points for the Kings, who snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Sixers and moved into a tie with Dallas for sixth place in the Western Conference. Sacramento hosts the Mavericks on Tuesday in a crucial duel for both teams, who seek to finish in the top six to avoid the play-in.
