Donald Trump’s lawyers try to discredit testimony of first witness in hush money trial

NY – The defense of donald trump on Friday questioned the credibility of the prosecution’s first witness in the trial where he is accused of paying to cover up negative informationseeking to discredit testimony detailing a plan between Trump and a tabloid to hide negative stories in order to protect the Republican’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Returning to the witness stand for the fourth day, the Former National Enquirer editor David Peckerwas questioned about his memories and previous statements in an attempt by the defense to find inconsistencies in his testimony, which will possibly be crucial for the prosecution, in the first criminal trial against a former president in USA.

Pecker’s testimony gave jurors a surprising look inside the tabloid’s “catch-and-kill” practice, which involved buying the rights to stories so they would never see the light of day. It is a crucial element of prosecutors’ theory that Trump sought to illegally influence the 2016 race by suppressing negative information about his personal life.
