Double A Baseball: Cayey and Yabucoa sweep their finals to advance to the Champions Carnival

The Cayey bulls and the Yabucoa sugar mills This Saturday they secured the first tickets to the Carnival of Champions, the penultimate stage of the 2024 postseason of the Double A Superior Baseball League.

Both teams won their respective section final series via 4-0 sweep.

Cayey repeated for the third consecutive year on the throne of the Central section, by dramatically beating the Bravos de Cidra 2-1. A home run by Emanuel Colon with a runner on base decided the game in favor of the Toritos at the top of the ninth inning.

It is the twelfth victory in a row for the Toritos, the only team that has not lost in the current postseason.

In the Southeast, the Azucareros recovered the section title with a comfortable 7-0 shutout over the Jueyeros de Maunabo. Yabucoa combined pitchers Jean Paul Ramos, Jan Melendez, Michael Vega and Steven Davila.
