Electrical service interruptions increase on the verge of closing of voting stations in the primaries

Just over an hour before the closing of the polling stations for the primaries of the New Progressive Party (PNP) and the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), more than 88,000 clients of LUMA Energy They were without electricity service, a situation that had combined with the intense rains in large areas of the country to complicate the electoral event.

At 3:45 pm, the LUMA portal stated that 88,004 subscribers were without service, most of them in the regions of Bayamon (36,113) and Caguas (28,569).

LUMA spokesperson, Hugo Sorrentiniindicated that 18 voting centers were without electrical service. “Some come in and some come out. “It all depends on the weather conditions in areas across the island.”said Sorrentini, shortly before 4:00 pm, adding that LUMA personnel and the State Election Commission (CEE) was talking “constantly.”
