Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguez travels to Japan for his title fight and shares his concern about the food

The 118-pound champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF)The boricua Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguezleft for Japan this Monday for his first starting defense against Ryosuke Nishida with the satisfaction that he will be in Japanese lands with enough time to acclimatize, but with the fear of what he may find in terms of food.

Rodriguez (22-2, 13 KO’s) will expose his bantamweight belt on May 4, 2024 at the EDION Arena Osaka against the Japanese Nishida (8-0, 1 KO). It is the first time that the 31-year-old athlete fights in that Asian country.

“The most important thing we were worried about was arriving on the days we needed. What worries us now, and we will seek to balance it, is food. But at least, regarding the time we are going to be there, there is no excuse. The most important thing is to win”acknowledged the Vegabajeno fighter from the Los Angeles International Airport, while waiting for the flight that would take him to Japan with his work team.
