Energy Bureau approves new increase in electricity bill

He Energy Bureau approved this Sunday the quarterly adjustment factors for fuel purchases and energy purchases presented by LUMA Energythrough which the electricity bill will register an increase of 1.05 cents from July 1 to September 30 of this year.

According to the resolution issued by the Bureau, the result of the approval will be a price, for an average residential customer with a monthly consumption of 800 kWh, of 23.77 cents per kWh, instead of the 24.08 cents originally requested by the consortium in charge of the transmission and distribution of electrical energy in Puerto Rico.

“As a result of certain discrepancies associated with the energy purchase clause identified by the Energy Bureau during the evaluation process, a quarterly adjustment 1.3% below the requested amount was approved”reads the statement.

According to the agency, the approval of the proposal represents an adjustment for consumers of 4.7% compared to the current cost of 22.72 cents.
