The heat and rain will continue to affect almost all of Puerto Rico after the effects left by the passage of a trough through the island during the past few days.
Early on Thursday, the National Meteorological Service (SNM) forecast possible shower activity for the eastern and southern area of the island, while, in the afternoon, it would be the northwest area that could see more rain.
“Later in the afternoon this activity will concentrate in portions of the northeast of Puerto Rico where there is also the possibility of isolated thunderstorms”noted the meteorologist Glorianne Rivera to The new day.
At once, The SNM issued a heat warning that will be in effect from 10:00 am for the coastal municipalities of the northwest, west and eastern area of Puerto Rico, including Vieques and Culebra, as well as a heat warning from Carolina to the Arecibo area..
During a heat advisory, the temperature can fluctuate between 108 to 111 degrees Fahrenheit, while in a heat advisory the temperatures could rise to above 112 degrees.
Regarding maritime conditions, the SNM reported that, for the moment, the waves remain between two to four feet in Atlantic waters and between one to three feet in Caribbean waters. They also noted that this could change at night, when maritime conditions are expected to begin to deteriorate with the approach of Tropical Storm Tammy to our area.
“From tonight through Monday, at least, we are going to be expecting swells of 4 to 8 feet across the coastal waters, and 8 to 12 in the coastal waters.”Rivera established.
