Federal judge issues arrest warrant for suspect of shooting in the air on Vega Baja beach

The Federal Court in San Juan has issued an arrest warrant for the man suspected of firing into the air last week on Puerto Nuevo beach in Vega Baja.

According to the case file, Federal Judge Francisco Besosa signed the warrant against Joshua Gonzalez Andino, who is on probation after being released from prison after pleading guilty to drug and weapons charges in 2018.

In response to the court order, Gonzalez Andino turned himself in with his lawyer on Tuesday morning. The matter was referred to a federal magistrate for consideration.

The arrest warrant was requested by the Probation Office in a motion, in which it warned of “violations of his conditional release.”

The Probation Office then suggested that Gonzalez Andino “show cause why his five-year conditional release, which he began serving last February, should not be revoked.”
