Federal magistrate will listen to recording before deciding on bail for alleged Ponce drug gang leader

The federal judge Giselle Lopez Soler The ruling was reserved on Tuesday on the decision to grant or deny bail to the alleged leader of a drug trafficking gang, who was arrested last month in Ponce.

Armando Alicea Santiago appears as the main defendant of a total of 60 people in a document issued by a federal Grand Jury, with arrest warrants executed during an operation led by the Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with the support of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

In a hearing before Lopez Soler, the federal prosecutor Richard Vance Eaton requested that Alicea Santiago be placed in prison until the trial, while the defense seeks to be allowed to remain on bail.

Eaton stated that Alicea Santiago is not only a flight risk, but also represents a danger to the community.
