Texas —The first black candidate to be an astronaut in USA He finally went into space 60 years later, flying on Sunday on a rocket from Jeff Bezos’ company.

Ed Dwight was an Air Force pilot when President John F. Kennedy promoted him as a candidate to join the first astronaut corps of the POT. But he was not chosen for the 1963 group.

Dwight, now 90, experienced a few minutes of loss of gravity along with five other passengers aboard the Blue Origin capsule as it skimmed through space on a roughly 10-minute flight. He considered it to be “a life-changing experience.”

“I thought I didn’t really need this in my life.”Dwight said shortly after leaving the capsule. “But now, I do need it in my life… I’m ecstatic.”
