Flood notice and warning issued for several municipalities due to heavy rains around the island

He National Meteorological Service (SNM) issued a notice and warning on Sunday afternoon floods for several municipalities due to excess rain throughout the region associated with the passage of a tropical wave to the south of the island.

The following municipalities remain under a flood warning:

  • Maunabo, Patillas and Yabucoa: until 5:00 p.m.
  • Naguabo: until 6:00 p.m.
  • Aguas Buenas, Caguas, Cayey, Cidra, Comerio, Gurabo, Juncos, Las Piedras and San Lorenzo: until 7:15 p.m.
  • Canovanas, Loiza and Rio Grande: until 8:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, these towns are under a flood warning due to heavy rainfall:

  • Fajardo, Luquillo, Ceiba, Catano, Dorado, Toa Baja, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Carolina, Naguabo and Trujillo Alto: until 6:00 pm
  • Arroyo, Guayama, Humacao and Salinas: until 6:00 pm
  • Bayamon, Corozal, Guaynabo, Naranjito, San Juan and Toa Alta: until 6:30 p.m.

According to the meteorological agency, minor flooding was reported in low-lying areas with little drainage in the Dorado area, while at 11:05 this morning the Doppler radar showed heavy rain and thunderstorms.

To date, there have been reports between one and two inches of rain accumulated in the area.

On the other hand, At 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, the SNM river gauge indicated that the Blanco de Naguabo River had exceeded the flood level of 7.3 feet. and is approaching eight feet due to excess runoff produced by heavy rains.
