Flood warning and notice issued for several municipalities in the interior and south of the island

The National Meteorological Service (SNM) issued, on Thursday afternoon, a flood warning and warning for several municipalities in the interior and south of Puerto Rico due to heavy downpours that fall in the region.

The towns that are under a flash flood warning are:

  • Aibonito, Cayey and Barranquitas: the warning will be in effect until 8:00 pm In these municipalities, between one to three inches of rain has already been reported with at least one or two additional inches on the way.
  • Corozal: the notice will be in effect until 8:00 pm

For its part, the Police Bureau reported in the afternoon that Domingo Colon Street in Aibonito remains closed after a river overflowed its banks. As an alternative route, the Uniformed Police recommended that drivers detour to the Llanos neighborhood.

While in Barranquitas, PR-156, PR-7776 in the Honduras neighborhood and PR-156 in the Palo Hincado neighborhood are closed after flooding.

The towns that are currently under a flood warning are:

  • Cidra, Comerio and Orocovis: the warning will be in effect until 7:15 pm
  • Coamo and Salinas: the warning will be in effect until 7:30 pm
  • Morovis and Naranjito: the warning will be in effect until 8:15 pm

In the aforementioned towns, at least approximately one to two inches of rain was reported in each region.
