Flood warning issued for southwest Puerto Rico

He National Weather Service (SNM) issued a flood warning this Saturday afternoon for the municipalities of Cabo Rojo, Guayanilla, Hormigueros, Mayaguez, Penuelas, Ponce, Sabana Grande, San German and Yauco, valid until 5:15 in the afternoon, reported the agency in its official X account.

According to the SNM report, flooding is expected in this area caused by excessive rains that will cause urban flooding and the departure of streams and streams from their channels.

Caution is also suggested for people in poor drainage areas.

The Doppler radar operated by the SNM showed, at 2:16 pm, areas of heavy rain that caused flooding in some sectors.

The SNM stated that areas of the island could receive up to two inches of precipitation this afternoon.
