Flood warnings issued for several towns in northeastern Puerto Rico

He National Weather Service (SNM) issued a warning this Sunday night floods for several municipalities in the northeast after downpours associated with a high pressure area that continues to push winds towards said region of the island.

The towns that remain under flood warning are the following:

– Canovanas and Rio Grande: until 10:15 p.m.

– Fajardo and Luquillo: until 11:00 p.m.

The Doppler radar operated by the SNM showed, at 7:12 pm, areas of heavy rain that caused flooding in some sectors in these municipalities.

The weather agency said some areas could receive up to two inches of precipitation overnight.

Earlier, the SNM issued a warning to operators of small boats that frequent that area.

Meteorologist Lee Ann Ingles Serrano indicated to The new day It is expected that these precarious conditions at sea last until midweek, “resulting in waves of up to seven feet and a high risk of ocean currents”.
