Food shortages in designated “safe zone” in Gaza Strip

An Israeli airstrike hit a residential building next to the main medical center in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis, wounding at least seven people, hospital officials and witnesses said Wednesday.

Nasser Hospital is located in the western part of the city, within the humanitarian “safe zone” designated by Israel to which the Palestinians have been asked to attend, according to maps provided by the Israeli military. The most recent Israeli evacuation order affected some 250,000 people this week in wide swaths of Loopaccording to estimates by United Nations.

As dust from Wednesday’s bombing spread across a street near Nasser Hospital, an Associated Press contributor captured video of people running in all directions, some toward the destruction and others away from it. Men carried two apparently wounded children in their arms. Later, civil defense rescue teams and bystanders picked through chunks of concrete and twisted metal, searching for people who might be buried.
