Former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori reaffirms his decision to run again in the 2026 elections

LimeThe former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori85, reaffirmed this Sunday his decision and “willingness to assume all the risks” of a new electoral candidacy with a view to the 2026 general elections, in a letter addressed to a local media and shared on his social networks.

Fujimori, who governed Peru between 1990 and 2000, he added that he wants to “work again for all Peruvians,” in a letter written in his own handwriting in response to a question from the newspaper El Comercio.

The former president explained that he is currently hospitalized in a clinic in Lima awaiting surgery, after a fall he had at home, which caused a hip fracture from which he hopes to recover “successfully.”

About to turn 86 years old, Fujimori suffered the accident in his room, so he had to be immediately transferred to a clinic in Lima, where he was admitted to an intensive care unit.
