NY- Dominican Starling Marte hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning and drove in four runs, JD Martinez homered for the second consecutive game, and the New York Mets held off the Arizona Diamondbacks, 10-9 on the night of the Friday.

Trailing by five runs and close to the final out, the Diamondbacks got a three-run homer from Joc Pederson and a solo homer from Christian Walker on consecutive pitches from Reed Garrett before striking out Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to end the game.

Mark Vientos contributed with three singles and two RBIs, hours after taking the daily job at third base when the Mets made a series of changes to their roster. Dominican Luis Severino (3-2) recovered from a rocky start and New York (24-33) won consecutive victories for the first time since May 6 and 7 in St. Louis.
