Heat warning in effect for Puerto Rico on Wednesday

Another extremely hot day, with morning rain for the east and heavy rain and thunderstorms for the southwest during the afternoon, is expected for Puerto Rico during this Wednesday, indicated the National Weather Service (SNM).

According to Walter Snell, SNM meteorologist, in San Juana is maintained Heat warning for coastal municipalities in the north, west and south of Puerto Rico between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. due to expected heat indices that could exceed 108 degrees Fahrenheit (°F).

However, the meteorologist indicated that although the municipalities in the interior, between Caguas and Maricao, and in the east, between Loiza and Humacao – including the island municipalities of Vieques and Culebra – are not under this warning, they could experience heat indices in the triple digits.

“Today (Wednesday) will be a very similar day to yesterday (Tuesday) where we saw a lot of heat, rain in the morning in the east and in the afternoon in the west and southwest,” Snell explained.
