Hermes Avila Vazquez requests an “urgent meeting” to reveal who “knew” that he was in prison

In the midst of investigations in the Senate and the Justice Department on the release of Hermes Avila Vazquezthe candidate for the upper house of the Popular Democratic Party, Carlos Diaz Sanchezrevealed this Wednesday a letter sent by the feminicide – now accused of murdering another woman – in which he states that employees of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) allegedly knew that he was walking in the prison.

Handwritten and dated May 1, in the letter, Avila Vazquez demanded to have a “urgent meeting, since I am going to testify who were the ones who knew that I was walking”.

The convict, with a sentence of 122 years, of which he has only served 18 in prison and one in the free community, thanks to a special health pass, addressed the letter to the superintendent of the Admission, Diagnosis and Classification Center 705 of Bayamon, Wanda Montanez Santiago.

Avila Vazquez is accused of the feminicide of Ivette Joan Melendez, reported on April 22, near Los Tubos beach, in Manati. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3, in the Arecibo Court.
