Hurricane Beryl strengthens its winds to 100 mph

Hurricane Beryl continued to strengthen on Sunday morning, increasing its winds to 100 miles per hour (mph) as it heads toward the southern Caribbean Sea.

According to a special bulletin from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), at 5:00 am, Beryl was located at latitude 10.7 North, longitude 53.1 West while moving at a speed of 21 mph westward..

According to information from that office, the hurricane will continue to move westward to west-northwest for the next few days and will become a dangerous hurricane for the southern islands of the Lesser Antilles.

Beryl is expected to pass within 200 miles of southern Puerto Rico leaving downpours and the possibility of tropical storm winds for the region, although alerts have not yet been activated for the island.
