Jordan Montgomery signs with the Arizona Diamondbacks, his rivals from the last World Series

Phoenix – The Arizona Diamondbacks and pitcher Jordan Montgomery reached an agreement for one year and $25 million, with an alternative renewal for 2025, a person close to the agreement reported on Tuesday.

The source spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the signing was contingent on passing a medical exam.

If Montgomery makes at least 10 starts this season, the option to renew the contract will be guaranteed at $20 million. Furthermore, the left-hander would gain the right to terminate the agreement.

The option price would escalate to $22.5 million if Montgomery makes 18 starts, and $25 million if he makes 23, a figure he has reached in three consecutive seasons.

Montgomery pitched for Texas against Arizona in the last World Series. His addition reinforces the rotation of the current National League champions, just days before the regular season begins.
