Jorge Lopez returns to the Orioles, the team with which he went to the All-Star Game in 2022

After the absence due to injury (shoulder) of their closer Felix Bautista, the Baltimore Orioles They claimed the Puerto Rican reliever on Saturday Jorge Lopezwho had been put on the waiver list by the Miami Marlins.

Lopez, 30, is 6-2 with a 6.13 ERA this season with the Marlins and the Minnesota Twins. In addition, 35 fanned in 47 episodes, and three saved.

The Puerto Rican came to the Marlins this summer in a trade with the Twins.

In 2022, prior to his arrival in Minnesota, Lopez was selected to the MLB All-Star Game with the Orioles. At that point, he had 19 saves and a 1.68 ERA in 44 appearances.

He then finished that season with a 4-7 record, 2.54 ERA and 23 saves.

In his brief stay with Miami, the Puerto Rican recorded an ERA of 9.26 in 12 games.

It has been a season of ups and downs for Lopez, who was sent down in June to the restricted list.

The Orioles lead the American League East division at 83-51.
