Minneapolis — Simeon Woods Richardson earned his first win in eight starts, Jose Miranda drove in a pair of runs and the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Tuesday.

Minnesota, winner of six of its last seven games, received two hits from the Dominican Manuel Margot, another pair from his compatriot Carlos Santana and two from Byron Buxton.

Dominican Jhoan Duran allowed his first two opponents to reach base in the ninth inning. However, he did not allow a run and was credited with his eighth save.

He was helped by a shot from Puerto Rican Christian Vazquez, who retired a runner who was trying to steal second base.

Kansas City equaled its worst figure of the season, hitting just five hits, and suffered its third loss in a row after stringing together eight wins. The Royals have lost 15 of their last 16 games at Target Field.
