Judge clarifies to Donald Trump that the gag order in his criminal trial does not prevent him from testifying

NY – He federal judge Juan M. Merchan indicated this Friday to former president Donald Trump that the gag order for his criminal trial in NY does not prevent him from testifying and that he has the “absolute” right to take the stand if he wishes.

Merchan, who was born in Colombia and moved to the Big Apple with his family when he was a child, He made this note after Trump said outside court yesterday that he could not testify because of the gag order.

The judge also explained that the order prohibiting him from publicly attacking witnesses, prosecutors and members of the jury takes effect when the agent is outside the criminal courtroom.

Thus, he stressed that Trump is guaranteed to testify if that is what he decides, since it is “a constitutional and fundamental right.”

Before this Friday’s session began, Trump also told reporters in the hallway of the court that his gag order does not prevent him from testifying, but it does prohibit him from responding to people when they criticize him.; implying that Thursday’s statement was a mistake.
