Kamala Harris visits a house in Canovanas that was rebuilt with emergency funds from the federal government

Canovanas – To accentuate assistance to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, the vice president of the United States, Kamala Harrisvisited the residence of Maria Ramos de Jesus, in San Isidro, which was destroyed a year ago and rebuilt with emergency funds from the federal government.

The house – with a gigantic Puerto Rican flag on its facade – was repaired with funds from the community development program to respond to disasters (CDBG-DR), through the R3 initiative of the government of Puerto Rico, which had many setbacks during the last administration.

Ramos de Jesus, 86, was able to talk alone with Vice President Harris, accompanied by family members. Ramos de Jesus lived in New Jersey for several years and is fluent in English.

Meanwhile, Harris spoke with the family, the governor Pedro Pierluisithe Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, and the Undersecretary of Housing, Adrianne Todmanthey were talking at the entrance of the house.
