Karla Guilfu joins as spokesperson in the campaign to promote the mental health of young people

The topic of mental health has been the letter of introduction of Karla Guilfu Acevedo, Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023. As part of her awareness message on this issue, the sovereign joined the Ana G. Mendez University (UAGM) in the public service campaign “Love what you feel and reconnect.”

As reported, the objective of this campaign, which will last until November, is to alert and identify situations that affect the mental health of youth through educational capsules. Among the topics it covers include bullying, dependence on technology, the importance of talking about our situations and emotions to heal, and the responsibility of parents in prevention, as well as respect in interpersonal relationships.

With these executions that will have visibility in Wapa Television and social networks, aim to offer brief messages that invite reflection and connect again with the essence.

“Mental health is an issue that we should not go unnoticed, as it could manifest itself at different stages of our children, adolescents and young people, and it does not discriminate based on social status. It is the responsibility of each of us to educate ourselves and carry the message of prevention and who better than Karla to help us in this task?expressed Jose F. Mendez Mendez, president of the UAGM, through a press release.

For her part, Karla stated that from a very young age she knew how little attention was given to mental health, seeing needs in her family, friends and herself.

“It was as if we all saw the problem in society, but we ignored it. This is where my passion and genuine curiosity are born for wanting to make this world a better one by working for the mental health that we all deserve so much. As time went by, I understood that mental health is influenced in a multifactorial way, so we can all take part in ensuring that it is a priority as much as physical health.”he highlighted.

The ambassador, who will represent Puerto Rico in Miss Universe on November 18 in The Savioralso expressed gratitude for being part of this campaign.

“The fact that the institution where I trained academically has selected me as spokesperson for this campaign fills me with emotion because it reaffirms my commitment to this issue that I am passionate about and that can impact the lives of other people. I appreciate the trust in me and that the conversation on these topics continues to expand, as they so deserve,” Guilfu added.

As part of this initiative, Karla will participate in a conversation with young university students from the Ana G. Mendez University, of which additional details will be offered on digital platforms.
