Kawhi Leonard will be out again against Dallas after right knee injury

The Angels- Kawhi Leonard will miss Game 5 of the first-round playoff series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday due to inflammation in his right knee.

Leonard was ruled out by Clippers coach Tyronn Lue on Tuesday. The six-time All-Star forward will miss his third game in this series.

He did not play the first or the fourth after sitting out the last eight games of the regular season due to knee pain. Leonard returned for the second and third games of the series, but scored only 24 points in two games and failed to make a three-pointer.

Surprisingly, the Clippers won the two games Leonard missed and Dallas won the two in which he played.

Leonard is averaging 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season in 68 games, the most since the 2016-17 campaign, when he was in San Antonio. Injuries have slowed the second half of Leonard’s career and he has not played a fully healthy season since joining the Clippers in 2019.
