Luis Estrada Santiago documents the challenges of loving in the shadows in “El error”

A June 26, 2015the TSupreme Court of the United States constitutionally recognized equal marriage, a right paralleled in the Civil Code of Puerto Rico. However, tensions and public opposition regarding the rights of the group persist. In these times of dispute over political correctness, a union struggle for equality, recognition and acceptance of diversity remains invisible.

For the writer Luis Estrada Santiago, it is important to preserve in the collective memory how homosexual couples were conditioned love under the shadows: sometimes living together in secret, helpless and minimized before the law, a theme that will be explored in “The error”a theatrical work that will debut from July 11 to 14, at the Santurce Fine Arts Center, as part of the third edition of the True Colors Fest.

“The new generations normally live with the present, perhaps they do not have extensive knowledge about the past. I want these youth to know that what they fought for and obtained (equal marriage) does not come for free, that they do not forget that our current situation was not given to us.“, Estrada Santiago pointed out to The new day.
