Male soprano Samuel Marino will perform for the first time in Puerto Rico

This Venezuelan sopranist, It will be presented for the first time on the island on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 6:00 pm, in the Pablo Casals Symphony Hall of the Luis A. Ferre Fine Arts Center in Santurce.

Samuel Marino is truly extraordinary because he has the gift of an exceptional voice. At 30 years old, he has performed some of the most monumental roles in baroque and classical opera and oratorio, including works by Handel, Vivaldi and Salieri, among others,” he indicated. Karen E. For us at Pro Arte Musical it is an honor to host his talent in Puerto Rico”.

According to Pro Arte Musical, Marino’s voice is a rarity on the modern opera stage, as it allows him to address the most demanding forms of the classical vocal repertoire, which were originally performed by the “castrati.”

Born in 1993, Marino began his singing studies at the National Conservatory of Caracas. His first operatic experience was with the Baroque Camerata from his hometown, where he ignited his passion and affinity for the baroque repertoire, to later continue his singing studies in the Paris Conservatory. Her wide vocal range has allowed her to explore roles in the Bel Canto repertoire such as Oscar (“Un Ballo in Maschera”, by Verdi), Romeo (“I Capuleti ed I Montecchi”, by Bellini) and Arsace (“Aurelian in Palimiera”, by Rossini).

The skilled performer has been nominated by OpernWelt magazine as “Best New Artist”, among other awards. In 2019, he founded el Ensemble Theseus, with the aim of bringing forgotten baroque techniques and works to the main stages of the world.

Currently, Samuel lives between Paris and Berlin, and travels around the world performing in the main opera houses, singing a wide repertoire in Spanish, German, Italian, English and French. During his concert in Puerto Rico, the sopranist will share the stage with the renowned pianist Jonathan Warewho has also performed successfully in recitals and concerts throughout Europe and the United States.
